Why are water based timber finished coatings better?
Floating Floor Finish™
Description
Intergrain Floating Floor Finish is a non-yellowing, durable, clear, water based timber floating floor finish. Floating Floor Finish has a low odour and is fast drying, enabling floors to be finished within one day. Floating floor Finish is a revolutionary product because it has excellent adhesion to all pre-finished timber floors with out the need for sanding or a primer. Floating Floor Finish preserves the natural colour of timber, is easy to apply and resistant to most household chemicals.
Where to use
On all interior pre-finished timber floating floors and bamboo floors. Please note this product is not recommended for Laminate Floating Floors which have a 100% synthetic representation of a timber veneer surface.

Preparation
Wash thoroughly with Squeaky Clean to remove all dust, dirt, grease and grit. Remove polishes with an ammonia based stripper.
Check for adhesion by applying Floating Floor Finish to a test area, approximately 250mm x 250mm. Allow to dry for 6-8 hours then firmly press a strip of sticky tape over the coated section and rip off quickly. If the coating is removed do not proceed as the surface is not suitable. Sanding will be required.
For an excessively scratched timber floating floor, some sanding may be required. Surface can be lightly abraded with a worn 150 or 180 screenback to remove any small scratches or imperfections in the finish. After sanding, vacuum to remove all dust. .
Mixing
Shake pack for 1 minute prior to application.
Application
Cut in around edges to a maximum width of 50mm with a synthetic brush or a pad applicator. Apply an even, generous coat with a pad applicator or short nap roller (6mm), laying off lightly in the direction of the board. Work along 3-4 boards at a time, keeping a wet edge by working quickly to prevent lapping or join marks.

^ These dry times are based on drying conditions of 25°C and 50% relative humidity. Dry times will be subject to climatic conditions, film thickness and airflow. Use below 10°C is not advised. It is not advised to apply coatings when the temperature exceeds 35°C as they may dry too quickly under the roller, resulting in a substandard finish. The drying time will vary greatly when the temperature is below 10°C or above 30°C, or if the relative humidity is higher than 50%.
